Preston Montague is an artist, landscape designer, and educator working to strengthen the relationship between people and their environment in the interest of improving public health. He has a bachelor’s degree in horticulture and a master’s degree in landscape architecture. Preston believes distance education provides an opportunity to connect people to horticultural innovations that encourage human and environmental wellness.
Botanical illustration is a powerful tool for understanding nature’s design. Preston creates and sells illustrations himself and also teaches classes in botanical illustration.
Education is an opportunity to spark curiosity and expand both the student and the teacher. Preston has taught classes at NC State, NC A & T State, the JC Raulston Arboretum and at a number of public gardens in the Southeast.
Landscape design is about choreographing an experience. Preston has created a variety of residential and commercial landscape designs that provide for an experience while also providing resources for wildlife and other ecosystem service.
